Updated Foundation Routine

Ok, so I know what you might be thinking - "Is she really about to do yet another foundation routine?" Answer? Um, yeah, I am. (: Obvi. Don't judge, but this topic is important to me. You've heard me say it before & I'll say it again... I have extremely, ridiculously, overly sensitive, acne prone skin, & yes, I do it hate it, a lot. We all have something that never fails to drive us to the brink of insanity, but because I know the pain oh so well, I'm not about to let anybody else suffer either. C'mon guys, I'm a lover, not a fighter. As if you didn't already know. If you're really interested, great! (I knew you were cool.) Let's get this party started.
------------------
Freakin' wash your face! Just do it, trust me. Nobody likes whiteheads, pimples, zits, whatever you want to call something pesky that does not belong on your face. I know it's some other lame chore you're not getting paid to do, but in the long run you really are doing something fantastical. Never, ever, ever put makeup over more makeup. Current favorite foundation? Covergirl Natureluxe silk foundation. Taylor Swift promotes it, The Beauty Department recommended it, there's really nothing else to say. It does its job & it does it well. Plus, it smells divine. (Yeah, I said that.) Over top of that, I'll add concealer under my eyes because I really don't think "veiny" is a good fashion statement. I've been using Sheer Cover's Duo Concealer, so thanks MyGlam. Next, you're gonna want powder to set your liquid foundation, especially if your face is oil city like mine. I cannot recommend Physician’s Formula's Talc-Free Mineral Powder enough. Get 'er done, ladies. Oh and because I seem to like to put as much on my face as possible, (I hope you're sensing sarcasm...) I always use some sort of rosy pink blush & bronzer to contour. Last, I highlight my cheekbones & the bridge of my nose with E.L.F.'s highlighter. We can't look to matte now. You're beautiful! XO Katie

SOTW

So... For this week's song choice, I decided to choose Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These Hazel Eyes." Now I'm well aware this is nothing new, but it's been on repeat, & now you know the kind of week I've had. Kelly Clarkson (her older stuff) is hands down my angry music. "My December" is one of my all time favorite albums, but I find it strangely empowering, in a "I just might hurt you" kind of way, if that makes any sense at all. Moral of this rant? "Behind These Hazel Eyes" feeds my current fed up spirit, but helps soothe with an "I'm gonna be ok" undertone. Nuff said.

MyGlam Bag: January 2012

Hi pretties! (: Katie here to do a quick post about my favorite thing ever to appear in my mailbox - MyGlam Bag! The theme this month is "Back To Nature," as mentioned on the cute canvas tote bordered with lime green leaves. At first glance, it seems like you get less products, as opposed to last month, but the value is well over $40... which is uh-maaaazzzzz-ing considering I only paid $10. BOO-YAH! So, what the heck is inside this thing?!

  • Full size Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Light/Medium

  • Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner

  • Full size Freeman Cucumber Facial Peel-Off Mask

  • theBalm Cosmetics Hot Ticket nail polish in "Don't Pink and Drive"

  • And who dosen't love coupons? They added those too. I've already had the chance to try the Sheer Cover concealer, in the exact color I needed by the way, and I have to say I'm pretty excited about the creamy, lightweight, long lasting coverage it does have. I have wanted to try Wen products for longer than I can even remember, so obviously that's a stamp in my book. Once again MyGlam, I am a very happy Glammie girl. :p

    December Favorites - Take 2

    Tutorial: Braided Headband

I'm sure by now you've come to notice that I adore headbands... So, why not make one with my own hair?! :p
Step 1: Take about a 1 inch section from either side of your head. (I chose the right because it's easier for me to braid from that side, given I'm right handed.)
Step 2: Braid the section you chose, upwards. If you braid the hair going up, you won't get any bumps when you pull it across your head.
Step 3: Braid as much as you can then bobby pin on the opposite side.
    Simple as that!
